Does it require a pump?
The ProOne® Scout II is not a pump filter, so it does not require any pumps to collect water. It is a gravity water filter, so water is filtered or purified after placing it into the device upright.
Does it require electricity or batteries?
The ProOne® Scout II uses a gravity fed water filtration system which offers many benefits, including no electricity or batteries required and ensures removal of all water borne debris.
Other water purification technology relies on batteries, such as the UV light purifiers. Though the UV light purifies water through killing the living organisms in the water, it leaves behind debris. The Scout II’s filter technology purifies water while removing any excess debris, making it the more pleasant portable water purification system and without the hassle of batteries or finding a power source.
What is it made out of?
The ProOne® Scout II is made of durable BPA, BPS & BPF Free plastic. It is lab tested and safe to consume clean water from and is lightweight enough to make it the optimal gravity water filter for backpacking, camping, or traveling.
What if I need additional water storage?
This water filter is recommended for one person. ProOne® offers a variety of water filtration systems. The Scout II is designed to be a portable gravity water filter. For backpacking and camping, water can go through the filter and then be stored in water bottles, bags, or hydration bladders for extra water carrying capacity.
What makes it suitable for outdoor activities?
It is lightweight and portable and comes with a carrying bag. It’s a more effective solution than other outdoor water filter options. Hand pumps can add wait time and require hard work to produce clean drinking water. Squeeze filters also require more work because the technology functions from manually squeezing the water bag to push water through the filter. The Scout II is a great alternative because of it’s set-it-forget style enabled by the gravity filter.
Is it a better option for hiking than a straw filter?
The straw filter can be a great option for hiking because of its compact size. ProOne carries the
ProSip Filter Straw. Filter straws provide clean water where there is immediate access to running lake or stream water. The Scout II provides water storage capacity so is better suited for longer hikes, backpacking, or camping. The Scout II is able to contain water for purposes such as cooking meals as well as providing hydration.

I decided to give this a try. It was easy to use & the water tasted great. I really liked that I didn’t have to prime the filter & that it also filtered out fluoride with one filter. I would purchase again. This is great for travel.
The only changes I would make would be to have the body be stainless steel.

The Scout 2 is sleek, slim, and perfect for tight-environments. The Scout 2 filters well, doesn’t leak, and is light-weight enough to be easily transported anywhere, such as in a backpack whilest camping. I really like the price of the Scout 2 also, overall, 5/5 stars.

This Scout II is excellent! I take it traveling with me regularly. It’s perfect for filtering water at the hotel to fill water bottles or make coffee. It saves me from needing to buy purified water while traveling, and that adds up to serious savings in the long run, not to mention the hassle!

I purchased this for my small rv as there is little counter space. Love it. The water tastes great. I would have preferred a stainless steel body.

A friend gave it to me as a gift for my upcoming trip. I took it on my trip and when I got to the place, pulled it out and the filter came apart from the base and the carbon filter material was all over the container. This was the only problem I had.
